AYURVEDA – WHAT IS?

AYURVEDA – WHAT IS?

Ayurveda is considered as one of the oldest of the traditional systems of medicine, having originated in India perhaps as much as 3,000 years ago. Knowledge was passed down by ancient sages called rishis, from teacher to student over many years. It is a whole body (holistic) system of medicine that takes a natural approach to all aspects of health and well being.
The term Ayurveda is composed of two sanskrt words: ayus which means „life” or „longevity” and veda which means „knowledge”, translated as „knowledge of longegvity”.
From the name itself we can conclude that, unlike Western official medicine, the primary goal of Ayurveda is not just to treat the symptoms of disease, but to bring the body and psyche into a state of balance and thus eradicate the very possibility of disease.
It has its own unique methods of diagnosis and treatment

DIAGNOSIS

DIAGNOSIS

Diagnosis in Ayurveda is based on the concept of three doshas (humours). What are doshas?
Ayurvedic medicine is based on the idea that the world is made up of five elements — aakash (space), jala (water), prithvi (earth), teja (fire), and vayu (air).A combination of each element results in three humors, or doshas, known as vata, kapha, and pitta. These doshas are believed to be responsible for a person’s physiological, mental, and emotional health. The primary cause of an ailment in the body is regarded as an imbalance between these three fundamental elements.
Through Ayurvedic diagnostics, which is mainly based on questionnaires and interview, we determine the dosha state of a person and determine which doshas are responsible for the imbalance.

TREATMENT

TREATMENT

After correct diagnosis based on dosha state of patient, an ayurvedic practitioner will create a treatment plan specifically designed for you.

ayurvedic treatment include:
-dietary changes; specific dosha diet
-herbal medicine
-massage and aromatherapy
-dinachraya (daily routine)
-ritucharya (seasonal routine)
-dosha specific exercieses
etc.

CONSULTATION

CONSULTATION

Before the consultation, the person fills out a questionnaire that helps the Ayurvedic practitioner determine the patient's dosha type. This is followed by a 60 to 90 minute video interview, where the patient's condition is further assessed and the appropriate treatment is then selected.

An ayurvedic consultation involves:

-An assessment of ayurvedic body and psychological constitution
-Checking of medical history, habits, diet, sleep
-An assessment of energy levels, digestion strength (AGNI) and the degree of presence of AMA (toxins)
